Those out of the tri-state area or are not too familiar with sports radio may not know who Mike Francesa is. Mike Francesa, aka the Sports Pope, is a radio personality based out of New York that is known for many things that have nothing to do with radio. Youmight be wondering, why would I dedicate an entire blog post to him? Well let me tell you.
The Francesa-isms are endless. So endless that an actual website. his own parody Twitter account (with over 10, 000 followers), and his own Youtube account exist.
Here is a personal favorite video of mine in which Mike Francesa absolutely loses it when a caller suggests that Robinson Cano should have bunted in the second inning.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kY_Uv_TPklYPersonally, I think it’s a classic and should be seen for generations to come.
Parodies aside, Mike Francesa is no joke in the radio world. His show was recently named the number one sports show in New York (although Boomer and Carton may have taken over that spot) and he consistently gets great and exclusive interviews that make headlines. Just to name a few recent ones, Tiki Barber went head to head with him and Darrelle Revis straight up hung up on him at one point during their interview. Although he did recently have a civil interview with Jets TE Dustin Keller.
Speaking of the Jets, Mike Francesa tends to hate on the Jets mostly based on the fact that they rarely do interviews with him which provides hysterical content for his listeners. He loathes Rex Ryan as well. Two large people with large mouth=heaven for me. Especially as a die hard Jets fan such as myself.
What I love about Mike Francesa is this: you either hate to love him or love to hate him. And there are exceptions to that like myself, who just love to love him.

That Twitter account is priceless! Though public figures with strong personalities tend to get extreme reactions, it’s nice to see that some are still willing to keep the entertainment value alive.
